A day in the life of my summer vacation so far:

5:54am- wake up because of my the villainous sun pouring through my eastward facing-window and my damn internal clock. Try to cover myself in pillows and go back to sleep.

6:49am- still trying to go back to sleep

7:52am- succeed in falling asleep only to be awoken by the doorbell ringing or my roommate getting up to teach summer school.

8:01am- surrender to getting out of bed, make breakfast (cereal or fried egg), flip through the Details magazine sitting on the kitchen counter for the fifth or sixth time, continue to admire the whiteness of Justin Timberlake's teeth.

9:04am- go to the gym for one hour, getting smoked at lifting weights and running by 78-year-olds

10:04am- shower... or not

10:52am- wonder if it is too early to make lunch. Decide it is, turn on an episode of Glee Season 1: Road to Sectionals instead. Mr. Shuester is so cute. And that Rachel has such a good voice. Oh, no she didn't!

(unknown loss of time... I couldn't have spent all that time watching Glee, I am sure I was doing something much more important)

1:58pm- try to be creative with making lunch. fresh gazpacho or from scratch pizza some days, mac and cheese from the box on others.

2:55pm- help roommate with her puzzle, get annoyed with inability to find the cloud piece and leave shortly after

3:45pm- nap (eastward window is bearable)

4:25pm- re-read Life of Pi on the porch for fifth consecutive summer, think about needing to get a new book at the library, but become too engrossed in the story

5:30pm- realize I am not dressed (or showered?) for the 3rd day in a row

5:35pm- ice cream sandwich

5:40pm- feel bad about ice-cream sandwich, take a walk outside, but begin to feel the signs of heat stroke in the Phoenix sun, return to air conditioning shortly after

6:02pm- too early for dinner? No, proceed with making pasta and eating it in front of another Glee episode.

6:50pm- no more DVD Glee episodes :-(

7:00pm- movie night with roommates begins (theme of the week is space)

9:10pm- existential discussion about said movie, turning into an argument about the existence of God.

9:45pm- return to room to Facebook, blog, watch online episodes of Glee

10:12pm- wonder if it is too early to go to bed, decide it is and continue with previous step

11:42pm- Look at to-do list for the day (wash car, grocery store, return Ikea Skersket quilt cover and Sarg comforter, financial aid, go to bank, mop floors, go to library, weed garden)
I have done none of these things.

11:59am- bedtime

Successful day.

  2. Zander my little Peanut! my how you make me proud to be your father. I like to do a "day in the life of" during football season to my football buddies. 9:40am clean house. 12:48pm first beer.......much more detail, swearing about stuff... 1 hr at the gym, impressive. get up and go directly to shower, it'll help you move forward, or at worst you're clean at 2pm. love ya
